Charlie Adam denies having issue with Spurs

Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam has denied having any problem with Tottenham following accusations that he deliberately sets out to injure players from the North London club.

Adam’s challenge on Paulinho during his side’s 3-0 defeat at White Hart Lane has ruled the Brazilian out for four weeks with ligament damage – the latest in a string of incidents involving Adam and Spurs players.

The Scotland international tweeted, “Just for the record and to the people tweeting me abuse saying so, I don’t and never have had anything against Spurs,” adding, “And I would never intend to injure a fellow professional.”

Adam’s previous clashes with Tottenham players have included two incidents involving Gareth Bale, one which sidelined the Wales international for three months, as well as a foul on Scott Parker which resulted in the 28-year-old being sent off while playing for Liverpool.

Tottenham have submitted a written complaint to the FA, asking them to take action against Adam, but the disciplinary panel has ruled that the challenge wasn’t a red card offence.
